Jaffrey has been a welcoming and wonderful community to us, and it always amazes us how much they love the Ponies. We pride ourselves on being able to work with and give back to the community that gives so much to us, such as working hand in hand on Earth Day to help clean Children's Woods with the help of Mandy and Heather and local Conservation Committee volunteers. If you come to visit the Ponies here in Jaffrey, here are some of the other wonderful things to check out!
Amos fortune forum
The Amos Fortune Forum invites residents and friends of the Monadnock region to hear notable speakers who welcome the opportunity to present their ideas on issues of public interest and importance on Friday evenings in July and August, at the historic Meeting House built in Jaffrey in 1775. Many speakers have family ties in the Monadnock and surrounding regions. Founded in 1946 by a group of friends, the Forum opens again this summer for the 71st year, on Friday, July 7, 2017. Forum audiences and speakers thus continue to make a contribution to the intellectual life of our community. The Amos Fortune Forum, now in its 71st season, is free to the public. Operating expenses are partially offset by a generous annual bequest from the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation, as well as by contributions from residents of the Monadnock Region. Our Executive Director Emily was invited to speak here with Pony Pal Erik this past July. Click Here to learn more.
Jaffrey Chamber of commerce
The Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1982 after a group of concerned residents came together to discuss the challenges facing the town and went on to ask themselves a question that would turn out to be pivotal in the history of the town. That question was: “If we had an ‘Ideal Jaffrey,’ how would it differ from today?”
From its inception the Jaffrey Chamber has not been a typical chamber. No doubt influenced somewhat by its forerunner, the Jaffrey Board of Trade, the Chamber intentionally enacted a broader mission. The founders and community supporters wanted an organization that could work for, and with, all sectors of the community: municipal, business, the schools, nonprofit and the citizenry. Thus, it was decided to create an organization that would be “dedicated to the betterment of the community.”

River street theatre
The new River Street Theatre (RST) in downtown Jaffrey New Hampshire is a project of The Park Theatre. In anticipation of the construction and opening of the new Park Theatre performing arts center, the RST will be a small theatre venue to "bridge" us until we open the new theatre. Only 30 seats, but it has new, extremely comfortable upholstered seating, hi def digital projection and sound plus the best concessions around.
Every week they present new independent films, inspiring and educational documentaries, fresh foreign films, classic films from Hitchcock to the Coen Brothers. Additionally, they have live music night, and play & poetry readings from new and classic plays from the Monadnock Region and beyond. New Hampshire's smallest theatre, and proud of it! They hosted our screening of our documentary, "Where Once They Mattered" this spring, featuring cousins to the ponies here at the Sanctuary. To see what's playing, click here.
